Would Grooming Products Reviewed
Today I'd like to share some thoughts on my latest grooming product purchase, from a brand I've admittedly never heard of before, WOULD. I've been road testing two Would Deodorant sticks, GOLDEN HOUR and FRESH TRACKS.
The Hype
This aluminum free, GOLDEN HOUR deodorant stick from Would, a Barstool Brand, protects against odour while nourishing the skin. It contains natural extracts and oils to combat odour. With notes of Smooth brandy and Madagascar vanilla, this deo will leave you smelling great! FRESH TRACKS comes with notes of Oakmoss and Pink pepper.
Why do we have aluminum free deodorant?
There were some rumours circulating a few years back that Aluminum found in beauty products was causing it. This has since been debunked, with studies suggesting there is no link and that it would take an exhaustible amount of aluminum in the bloodstream to cause any harm to your body. However I still believe that when your body needs to sweat, it needs to sweat.
Antiperspirants use aluminum as a compound to prevent your body pores from sweating. You can read more about that in the Scripps article, Are There Benefits of Aluminum-Free Deodorant?
Review
I am actually one of those unlucky souls that does suffer from skin irritation when using deodorant with aluminum in. So I was very pleased to find these in a strip mall, especially knowing they go for a lot more online.
These are very easy to apply with a screw-push mechanism and the smells are very natural. It's taken me through the day and through my workouts. It's also baking soda free which is important to me.
Baking soda is also highly abrasive. That odour-fighting alkalinity can irritate sensitive skin, especially if you shave your armpits (which I don't, nor do the chicks in the Western Epic 1923, boy oh boy). What works wonders on stainless steel pots can be way too much for your skin. You can find out more about Baking Soda on the Corpus blog, BAKING SODA: WHY WE DON'T USE IT.
Buy again?
I would in a heartbeat. The logos and the packaging all look strong and sit well on my shelf. They are perfect for travel and most importantly they smell great. I'm more of a fan of GOLDEN HOUR although I've actually received compliments from the other half on the FRESH TRACKS. Not sure what has happened to this brand however as the website is no longer online, and checking the bottom of the sticks these products are out of date by 2 years. Hilarious.
