GEPARLYS UNCLASSIFIED LE PARFUM: Fragrance Review
I'll admit, I didn't even know what the word Unclassified meant before buying this fragrance. I thought it must have been a typo. I know Classified is a word, and de-classified. I had to Google it and it came back with,
not arranged in or assigned to classes or categories. "many texts remain unclassified or uncatalogued"
(of information or documents) not designated as secret. "the project was unclassified"
Well who knew. The noble wood-fougere perfume Geparlys Unclassified perfectly emphasises the freedom-loving and rebelliousness of real men, their special view of the world and their own unique taste, formed exclusively on personal emotions and prejudices. The character of the perfume heroes of the new composition of the French brand, which went on sale in 2021, is characterized by restlessness, and they themselves attract the attention of others, first of all, with boundless bright charisma and high intelligence.
Let's take a look at the product itself.
Bottle
The bottle is glass, with a branded gold plastic cap that shuts securely. It has a nice rounded feel so will fit in your palm without compromise. The label doesn't quite join up at the back, which is a design error, and inevitably cheapens the product for me.
The atomiser is one of the worst I've had in a long time. Just doesn't coorperate. Had I not just bought the bottle I would have assumed it was empty due to the amount of times I needed to get the liquid from the bottle.
The notes
● Top notes: Pink pepper, Grapefruit, Basil
● Heart notes: Clary sage, Geranium
● Base notes: Vetiver, Cashmeran
Opening
It's extremely citrusy. The grapefruit is delivered with a punch, and quickly out kicked by the lemon. Even though I don't spot any lemon in the profile, there's undoubtedly some lemon here. Fresh, clean and has my interest.
Middle
After a minute or two it gets more grounded in the greens. Like that waft of meadow floor when you shake out your picnic rug. The geranium is considered, and served equably so as not to overtake the citrus entirely.
Drydown
For dessert we get to some woody flavours. It lands softly but doesn't want to assert itself which is a shame. I got some bergamot late on, some vetiver, and maybe some musk, but I was hoping for a little more creaminess or cedarwood, or something that can put it in the masculine side.
It wants to be
Draws parallels to L'Homme Blu Intense.
Where to wear
Overall it's more of an aquatic scent, than a woody black tie scent. The packing is confusing because it looks like an oud fragrance, The Unclassified name suggests it should have more mystery. Ultimately, it's an enjoyable non-offensive fragrance that can be worn anywhere, which is kind of offensive in its own right. Office is fine, gym is fine, maybe best for those first dates so as not to impose yourself.
