My Favourite Retro Watch by Brew Co
Another one for the watch wishlist that I thought you'd enjoy me highlighting today, the Retro Metric Watch Dial from New York Microbrand Brew Co. Watches. My Instagram algorithms are constantly sending me links to Brew Co, how well they know me. Brew Co watches are known for their clean, minimalist aesthetics, often inspired by coffee culture (hence the name "Brew"). They appeal to those who appreciate understated, modern designs. They are priced in the mid-range, making them accessible for those looking for a stylish watch without breaking the bank. This one is £388 on their website currently.
The watch is striking and beautiful, every watch line is different enough, and it doesn't look like something else you'd have in your collection. They have a similar design language, if you rip the badge of the dial you'll know it's a Brew, not many other brands can claim that.
The movement is a Meca- quartz, which means it runs on a battery but the chronograph operation is mechanical. The dials are chemically aged and all individual. This particular model comes in electric blue, orange, yellow and royal blue. The electric is more for me, the colour pops more.
Other specs
● 36mm left to right,
● 42 on the lug to lug
● 50m water resistance
From the founder
The Brew watch collection is designed to celebrate and capture our enjoyable coffee experiences. I've drawn inspiration from industrial espresso machines, which feature a special blend of warm contrasting colours and a variety of brushing effects. This combination of colours and textures help to emphasise every component that is used to create this beautiful timepiece. Similar to an espresso machine, they express their own industrial nature with unique vented aesthetics seen on the sides, caseback, and crown. Founder & Designer, Jonathan Ferrer
Comment from YouTube of Long Island Watch, photos also sourced;
I typically don’t like quartz watches; sort of has a “soulless” feel to me. However, I wanted a simple daily with some personality & likewise focused on a smaller label or microbrand. Ended-up choosing the Retrograph Lumint. It’s a nice piece for the price - decent materials & feel. The stock strap is terrible, but that’s usually the case for anything under $750 & I’m picky when it comes to the grade of leather, clasps, etc.
Final thoughts
If you're looking for a stylish, well-made watch with a unique design at a reasonable price, Brew Co watches are a great choice. However, if you prioritise brand heritage or mechanical movements, you might want to explore other options. Personally I love a watch that has a story, I'm a fan of coffee as many of you who follow my channel can attest. And the retro look and feel of this watch is sending my twitching 'buy me now' finger into spasms.
