The Parlor Classic by Tru Fragrance: REVIEWED
Today I'm back with another fragrance review, The Parlor Classic by Tru Fragrance. It supposedly opens with a subtle hint of spicy cloves and rose, spiced with lively, woody hints of cardamom and almond. But you know how these reviews 'open', first we have to look at the bottle.
This is one of my favourite looking bottles from my recent fragrance hall sometime ago now at Strip Mall outside Winter Park. The cylindrical shape really gives off this vibe of old school apothecary, and I love the aqua blue hue with red accents. The cap also gives it some status and I always find myself gravitating towards this one on the shelf.
Opens with
The promise of a healthy breakfast in an Austrian health spa. It has pink grapefruit with a nudge of honey dew melon. I don't know if that's been thrown into the profile but it's a note I love, and it brings that sweetness to a very citrusy aura. It's a fun, bright opening that has a lot of adventure and my interest is piqued.
Settle Down
Once the sweetness dissipates it makes way for a picnic of herbaceous greens. As well as sage's a lift of spice, some dried flower buds, some incense. There is something of a 'hotel hallway' genericism that brings the fragrance to a rather disappointing plateaux. But only because it levels out too soon, and it's just a little too predictable. That said, think of it as a neat pop song. It's still catchy, you reluctantly dance to it, but it's Crazy Little Thing Called Love, that started with the opening chords to Bohemian Rhapsody.
Drydown
It doesn't so much as land, but floats off into the distance. I want to say that Parlor Classic glides into a feathered nest of sandalwood and creamy almond notes. But going back to my pop song analogy, it doesn't end. It just fades out. Rather than bottle this fragrance, I would say the perfumer bottled it in the 'lost the plot' sense. It came out of the traps so fast perhaps it ran out of puff.
Sadly it doesn't last longer than an hour or two and the event feels like it's come and gone without so much as a whimper. I'm thinking I might just keep the bottle and fill it with water once I'm done. The opening and the bottle are the two best things about The Parlor.
Where to Wear?
To the gym is fine. A nice citrusy aquatic fragrance that doesn't pull out trees nor leave an impression.
